Summary
Following the national lockdown and easing of restrictions, the staff at this traditional village pub nestled in the Hope Valley which dates back to 1577- were eager to open their doors once again to welcome back local neighbours, visitors to the world-renowned Peak District and the wider community.
Challenge
With phased easing of restrictions, Shaun, the manager at Ye Olde Bowling Green pub, was looking to maximise capacity at the venue by extending space outdoors to provide safer social distancing. With summer finally on its way and the delayed Euro 2020 tournament, he was keen to show England’s first round match against Croatia 13th June, all home nation and major games, along with an open-air barbecue.
Solution
ProofVision’s Rental Manager Nick Pask discussed requirements with Shaun, to offer the ultimate outdoor TV experience.
The Aire 65” 4K ultra HD outdoor TV with motorised case provided a plug-and-play solution which was quick and easy to set up. All ProofVision outdoor TVs are UK-designed and compliant to UK standards to guarantee quality, safety and durability. The custom-designed and built motorised case meant simple, secure packing and shipping, directly to the venue.
Upon delivery, Shaun could roll the case into place (no heavy lifting) and flip on the brakes. Once the lightweight lid was removed, he used the remote control to raise the Aire 65” TV up, meaning no fiddling or awkward unboxing. He simply plugged the TV in for power and was able to stream the football using the ProofVision RS232 solution. ProofVision outdoor TVs are up to five times brighter than regular TVs, meaning everyone in the beer garden could see the match clearly from any angle (178 degrees to be precise). Although the TV has built-in speakers, Shaun opted for the additional Lithe Audio speakers to share match commentary at the venue which has a maximum capacity of 200 during the match. With scorching temperatures of up to 27 degrees sweeping the UK, these outdoor TVs can run for 16hrs straight and withstand temperatures of up to 60 degrees as well as being waterproof to endure even the harshest of conditions which regular TVs cannot.
Following England’s win (1-0 thanks to Raheem Sterling), the pack-down was hassle-free and only took a matter of minutes (three minutes to be exact). The TV retracted back into the case using the remote, cables were tucked into the case, lid was secured, and the case rolled indoors until the next group match.
Outcome
Shaun White, Owner and Manager of Ye Olde Bowling Green said: “The TV was a massive success and our locals loved it! The picture quality was outstanding and the sound was also brilliant.”
“This has really added to our business and paid for itself easily. I would recommend one of these TVs to all pubs with an outdoor space.”
Nick Pask, Rental Manager at ProofVision said: “Renting outdoor TVs has been increasingly popular since more venues extended their capacity outdoors. For events such as the Euros, our outdoor TV rental service has been perfect for pub owners like Shaun, who want to provide outdoor entertainment for sports events and not lose business by customers going elsewhere to follow the Euros and other live sports events such as the Formula 1, Tennis, Golf, Tour de France etc.”
Will Uttley, Managing Director at ProofVision said: “Helping businesses get back to business has been front of mind this year for my team here at ProofVision. We’ve helped Shaun and other pub and restaurant owners to expand their venue capacity outside with our outdoor TVs.”
“With more businesses trying to automate and digitise the way they interact with customers, our outdoor TVs have been a much-needed way of sharing safety guidance (hand washing, face masks, social distancing, track and trace), news, offers and promotions and ordering through apps with QR codes, minimising contact and helping keep staff and patrons safe. I’m looking at more ways to expand our digital solutions and technology to continually improve our product offering. Working with people like Shaun has been valuable in gaining first-hand insights into what our customers really want and need to take their businesses forward.”
